There will be 11 ring events offering millions in guaranteed winnings
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit is making its return to Toronto, bringing an expanded prize pool and an updated tournament lineup. Scheduled to take place from April 10 to 22 at the Great Canadian Casino Resort, the event will feature 11 ring events and is expected to attract a large field of players.
This year’s WSOP Circuit stop in Toronto will see total prizes exceed CAD 6.5 million (US$4.55 million). The highly anticipated Main Event, with a buy-in of CAD 2,000 (US$1,400), is projected to generate a prize pool of over CAD 3 million (US$2.1 million). Meanwhile, the CAD 3,500 (US$2,450) High Roller event is expected to surpass CAD 1.1 million (US$770,000). The Main Event will include three starting flights beginning on April 17, with the final table set for April 21.
Last year, the Main Event attracted 1,600 entries, creating a prize pool of CAD 2.8 million (US$1.96 million). This time, organizers anticipate at least 1,700 participants. Online satellite tournaments will be available soon, with buy-ins starting at CAD 1 (US$0.70), while direct entry satellites will cost CAD 215 (US$150).
The updated schedule includes several new tournaments. A CAD 300 (US$210) Ladies Event will take place on April 11, followed by a CAD 400 (US$280) Seniors Event on April 15. A CAD 800 (US$560) Mystery Bounty event is set for April 14-15, and for the first time, a CAD 600 (US$420) Pot-Limit Omaha tournament will be held on April 16.
Notable changes include an increased buy-in for the opening event, rising from CAD 250 (US$175) to CAD 600 (US$420), and the Deepstack event moving from CAD 400 (US$280) to CAD 600 (US$420). The CAD 600 NLH 6-Max event is no longer part of the schedule. All events will begin at 11:00 AM (EST) and allow re-entry with alternate seating. Players must have a Great Canadian Rewards membership to participate.
