Long-time grinder Seth Davies picks up first WSOP bracelet
The biggest buy-in event at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has wrapped up, and high-stakes pro Seth Davies is finally a WSOP bracelet winner. Davies took down Event #46: $250,000 Super High Roller, defeating a 63-entry field and earning a career-best payday of $4,752,551. The win also delivered a long-awaited gold bracelet, something Davies had chased since watching poker on TV as a teenager.
The final table was stacked with elite talent, but Davies arrived on the last day in top form. He made quick work of the competition, finishing off Alex Foxen in a remarkably short heads-up battle. On the first hand, both players picked up big aces, but Davies paired the board and doubled through. On the second, Davies sealed the deal with pocket aces, fading Foxen’s improved two pair to close out the match.
Davies described the victory as deeply meaningful, especially after recently winning a Triton title. He admitted he’d been running well lately but also said that a change in mindset helped him feel more at ease, whether winning or losing. That confidence showed throughout the final table, where he controlled the action with a mix of strong hands and timely aggression.
The event wasn’t without drama. Before cards were in the air on Day 3, a dispute erupted over time bank extensions, led by Martin Kabrhel. Tournament staff denied the request, and play eventually moved on.
The early hands of the final day were filled with action. Bryn Kenney’s aces were nearly cracked, Ben Tollerene ran kings into aces, and Chris Brewer eliminated Kabrhel. Foxen later knocked out Brewer himself after a rough river card. Eventually, Davies sent Kenney out in fourth and outmaneuvered Thomas Boivin in three-handed play before the quick finale.
With this win, Davies not only secures one of the richest prizes of the series but also cements his place among poker’s top-tier tournament pros.
