The World Poker Tour will return to Australia in September with two major championship events
The World Poker Tour (WPT) is making a highly anticipated return to Australia this September for a massive festival at The Star Sydney. It will feature two separate championship events for the first time in the history of the series.
Running from September 10 to September 30, the poker festival will bring together global competitors and local enthusiasts for three weeks of intense tournament action. Fans worldwide can watch the conclusion of these premier tournaments because organizers plan to livestream the final tables for both headline events.
The schedule is anchored by two marquee competitions that offer different entry points for players looking to secure a title. Action begins with the Prime Australia event from September 17 to September 22, which requires an entry fee of approximately $1500.
This will be followed immediately by the main Australia Championship from September 24 to September 30, which features a higher buy-in of around $5000. Players who want to participate without paying the full entry fees can enter various satellite tournaments that offer qualification spots for a fraction of the cost.
In addition to the main championships, the festival schedule includes diverse events designed to appeal to a wide variety of poker players. A dedicated Ladies Australian Championship will take place on September 15 and September 16, with a buy-in of roughly $500.
The rest of the series will showcase popular tournament variations, including Pot Limit Omaha and bounty formats. WPT CEO Adam Pliska expressed immense excitement about returning to the region, noting that the country remains one of the most passionate poker markets in the world.
