The event’s prize pool has reached $90.5 million, with $10 million to the winner
The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event attracted a massive 9,735 players for the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em championship. While the turnout was slightly smaller than the previous two years, it still marked the third-largest field in the event’s 56-year history.
This year’s number of entrants fell just short of the record set in 2023, with 10,043 participants, and 2024, which had 10,112 players. However, the 2025 turnout outperformed the long-standing record of 8,773 players from 2006, a milestone held by Jamie Gold’s iconic victory.
The event’s total prize pool reached an impressive $90.5 million, with the winner receiving $10 million as the top prize. Players finishing in the top 1,461 spots will be paid, with those in 89th place and beyond guaranteed six-figure payouts.
The structure of the prize distribution ensures that the final table players walk away with life-changing sums. The runner-up will take home $6 million, while third place will earn $4 million. Those making it to the top five will leave the tournament as multi-millionaires.
Day 1D, as in previous years, was the largest flight, bringing in nearly 5,000 players. Day 1C saw 1,678 entries, down from last year’s 2,528, while Day 1B saw a substantial 32% increase, reaching 1,096 participants. Day 2D also experienced a surge, with late registrations growing by 25.4%, reaching 775. Although Day 1A saw minimal growth, the overall trend was positive, indicating sustained interest in the Main Event.
Ukraine’s Oleksii Kravchuk is the current chip leader, with the final table action to begin on July 15.
