The lineup’s Main Event won’t include a guaranteed prize pool
The World Poker Tour has unveiled the complete schedule for its upcoming WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, running December 2–22. This year’s festival features 78 events with buy-ins spanning from $600 up to $25,800, promising a wide range of action for players across different bankroll levels.
Among the fresh additions are a $1,600 Pot-Limit Omaha Mystery Bounty, a $1,600 No-Limit Hold’em with a $1 million guarantee, and a $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em carrying a $2 million guarantee.
The series centerpiece, the $10,400 WPT World Championship, will play from December 13–19, with the televised final table set for December 20. Last year’s edition drew 2,392 entries, with Scott Stewart capturing the title and over $2.5 million following a three-way deal.
Also on the calendar is the $5 million guaranteed WPT Prime Championship, running December 7–12, with its feature table airing on December 20. That event is expected to attract another large field after strong showings in previous years.
One notable change for 2025 is that the World Championship Main Event will not carry a prize pool guarantee, nor will there be a repeat of last year’s $5 million freeroll. The decision comes at a time when the December poker landscape is highly competitive, with the WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas offering a $60 million guarantee for its $25,000 Main Event.
Still, the WPT appears confident that its Vegas stop remains attractive enough to draw large crowds without those incentives, especially for players who prefer to stay stateside.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska emphasized the continued growth of the festival, highlighting the value provided across buy-in levels and the premier atmosphere at Wynn. With satellites, marquee mid-stakes events, and high rollers on the schedule, the WPT World Championship aims to remain a cornerstone of the poker calendar heading into the winter season.
