Maurice Hawkings has captured another WSOPC ring, putting him back in the running for the top spot
The competition in the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) is intensifying as Maurice Hawkins continues his climb up the all-time leaderboard. His latest victory at the 2025 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Pompano Beach event earned him his 17th gold ring, moving him into sole possession of second place among WSOPC winners.
Hawkins secured his latest title in the $400 40/40/40 Grand Master No-Limit Hold’em event with an impressive nine-high straight flush. The tournament, which required players to be at least 40 years old, featured deep starting stacks and extended blind levels. His win brought in $16,137 and placed him just one ring behind Ari Engel, who leads with 18 WSOPC titles.
Since winning his first ring in 2008, Hawkins has remained a dominant force on the circuit. He has achieved multiple victories in a single year on four different occasions and has claimed five WSOPC main event titles. His tournament earnings total nearly $6 million, with $2.9 million coming from WSOPC events alone—making him the circuit’s all-time leader in prize money.
The latest win adds to an already strong 2025 for Hawkins. He has reached four final tables this year, and this victory pushes him up in the Card Player Player of the Year standings, where he currently sits in 81st place.
With fierce competition from other top players like Daniel Lowery and Joshua Reichard, the race for WSOPC dominance is heating up. The season is moving forward, and Hawkins remains a key player to watch, with his sights set on tying or even surpassing Engel’s record.
