The new poker room has 50 poker tables and plenty of options
The Venetian hotel-casino debuted what it’s calling the largest poker room on the Las Vegas Strip this past week. The 14,000-square-foot space, called The Poker Room is equipped with USB and USB-C charging ports and features 50 live dealer tables. Additionally, the room boasts dedicated restrooms, a self-service beverage station, and several kiosks for the casino’s loyalty card program and sports betting. Situated on the second floor of the Grand Canal Shoppes, this new addition is designed to enhance the player experience significantly.
The director of poker operations at The Venetian, Tommy LaRosa, emphasized that every detail of the new poker room was created with players’ needs in mind. He expressed a desire to make The Poker Room a must-visit destination for every poker enthusiast in the Sin City. “We want to create a destination that every poker player must play at and everybody in Las Vegas is going to want to play on a daily basis,” LaRosa stated last Thursday.
The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with celebrities and Venetian executives playing a ceremonial first hand of poker. Notable attendees included Grammy-winning rapper Nelly and magician Shin Lim, who will start his residency at The Palazzo Theatre in two months. They were joined by Rob Brimmer, the resort’s CFO, and Patrick Nichols, Venetian’s president and CEO. Poker pros such as the 2017 World Series of Poker main event winner, Scott Blumstein, along with Farah Galfond, Jamie Kerstetter and Matt Berkey, also participated in the inaugural game.
Guests, including invited Venetian Rewards members, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and champagne while a DJ provided live entertainment. Attendees were invited to sign commemorative playing cards to mark the occasion. LaRosa expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, “This is the culmination of 19 years of work. “I’m excited. I’m honored. I’m very appreciative of the leadership and the support that they’re giving us in poker. The things that they’ve invested in this room and the amenities that they put in for our players are second to none.”
The Poker Room will host different cash games and the DeepStack poker tournament series, with the 2024 Deepstack Championship Poker Series having just concluded last Wednesday. According to a news release, The Poker Room at The Venetian plans to introduce a streaming room before the 2024 ends. This addition will enable players to arrange vlogging sessions and allow the resort to stream tournament final tables and cash games, further enhancing the player experience and engagement.
