Daniel Lowery has added two rings to move into a tie with Maurice Hawkins
The battle for the top spot in the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) ring leaderboard is heating up, with several players making significant moves in recent weeks. Daniel Lowery is the latest to shake up the rankings after winning two Seniors events at the WSOP Circuit Hard Rock Tulsa. These victories bring his total to 18 rings, tying him with Maurice Hawkins and putting both just one win behind leader Ari Engel, who holds 19.
Before Lowery’s latest success, the top spot had been a back-and-forth contest between Engel and Hawkins. In early March, Hawkins briefly caught up to Engel with his 18th ring, but Engel responded by winning his 19th in the NLH Big $500 event at the WSOP Super Circuit Online festival. Now, with Lowery in the mix, the competition at the top is tighter than ever.
Joshua Reichard remains a strong contender, currently in fourth place after securing his 16th ring at the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond. Michael Lavin follows in fifth with 15 rings, many of which he won online, including his most recent victory in February. With nearly 100 more WSOP Circuit events scheduled before the end of May, the standings could change significantly.
While Lowery was adding to his total, John Dollinger took down the Hard Rock Tulsa Main Event. The $1,700 buy-in tournament attracted 487 entries and a $737,805 prize pool. Dollinger claimed the top prize of $147,178 after defeating Russell Brooks heads-up.
With six more stops left in the WSOP Circuit season, including events in Las Vegas, Tunica, and Cherokee, the race for the top ring count remains wide open.
