WSOP Circuit grinder Ryan Estrada passed away following a motorcycle crash
The poker world is saddened by the recent news about Florida poker pro and World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Ring winner Ryan Estrada, who passed away in a motorcycle accident.
Estrada, from Sunrise, FL, was active on the Florida poker circuit, with nearly $317,000 in live earnings since cashing in his first tournament in February 2021.
Fellow Florida grinder Matthew Sonzogi reported news of Estrada’s death in an X post, saying he was “absolutely sick” to his stomach. He added that Estrada was “one of the nicest kids” he had met in Florida.

Estrada’s first career cash was after he won $500 in a $100 Survivor event at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. It was a preview of what was to come for Estrada, who would win tournaments throughout the state, including the $200 Seminole New Year’s Series for $23,000, a $400 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown event for $6,080 and a $250 Pompano Isle Casino event to win $6,000.
In October 2023, Estrada won a $400 Big 30k event at WSOPC Pompano Beach, earning a Circuit ring and a $15,514 top prize. The same month, he earned his largest cash, finishing as runner-up in the SHR Hollywood Anniversary Big Slick Special for $30,935.
Several poker players, including Nick Palma and Jesse Lonis, offered condolences on social media.
Estrada’s obituary states that he “possessed a rare combination of talent and ambition, destined for greatness both on the poker table and beyond.” “It is a tragedy that we will never witness the fulfillment of his potential and the remarkable achievements he was bound to accomplish,” it added.
