The annual event continues to grow stronger, handing two tough players big victories this year

The Global Poker x PokerNews Cup wrapped up in style with two exciting Freeroll Finales, awarding both Sweeps Coins (SC) and Gold Coins (GC) to a select group of online poker players. The 20-day festival, a collaboration between two major poker organizations, culminated in crowning champions and generating unforgettable stories on the virtual felt.

The PokerNews Cup SC Freeroll Finale saw 42 players battle it out for a share of the 100,000 SC prize pool. After a strategic display of patience and seizing key opportunities, “MrGoldenPair” emerged victorious after four and a half hours of intense play. Their victory secured them a coveted trophy and a substantial payday of 30,000 SC.

The final table witnessed “Pubone258” put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in second place, taking home a respectable 20,000 SC. The freeroll began with 43 players, and only the top nine secured a portion of the prize pool. “Boney101” managed to narrowly scrape into the money zone but was eventually eliminated after encountering an unlucky hand.

“MrGoldenPair” built momentum throughout the final table, turning an Ace to eliminate “UPayformydogs” in fourth place. This key play propelled them to the second-largest chip stack, allowing “Pubone258” to secure subsequent knockouts. However, “Pubone285″‘s hot streak ended in heads-up play, falling short with a Queen-high pre-flop shove.

The second Freeroll Finale saw “Letmedonkyoualil” triumph after a rapid-fire tournament, defeating all 44 opponents to claim the coveted Global Poker x PokerNews Cup Freeroll Finale title. This victory not only brings them a prestigious champion’s trophy but also a staggering 20,000,000 GC deposited directly into their Global Poker account.

The Freeroll Finale boasted a massive 100,000,000 GC prize pool and was an exclusive event reserved for series tournament winners and a select group of players who earned entry through deep runs in the series satellites.

The action was swift, with the field shrinking from 45 to just nine finalists in a little over two hours. The final table itself was a tense battle, taking nearly as long to determine a champion. “Letmedonkyoualil” entered the final table comfortably in third place but found themselves precariously short-stacked with seven players remaining. However, they managed to chip up strategically and secured a crucial knockout against “Ufbrown” in sixth place.

The lead changed hands several times throughout the final stages, with “TheArtist2” and “Abagofblow” falling in fifth and fourth place, respectively. “PolarizedMind” managed to eliminate “Abagofblow” but was soon sent packing by “Letmedonkyoualil” in third place, giving the eventual champion a commanding chip advantage heading into heads-up play.

The final hand of the tournament saw “Letmedonkyoualil”‘s ace-queen prevail over “Zenrambo”‘s ten-nine suited, securing them the 20,000,000 GC first-place prize. “Zenrambo” received a respectable 15,000,000 GC for their runner-up finish, capping off a thrilling conclusion to the Global Poker x PokerNews Cup.
