Stephen Chidwick has already picked up his first big win of 2024
After a pause for the first month of the year, the European Poker Tour (EPT) returned with its first tournament of 2024 at the Le Palais des Congres in Paris, France, for a five-event schedule. One champion has already been decided, with the €5,000 ($5,385) Main Event currently underway.
The PokerStars France Poker Series (FPS) Main Event is on its third day of four as players compete for the final table. The third day began with Ilija Savevski of North Macedonia leading Blaz Zerjav of Slovenia in the chip count with 55 players remaining, who are all guaranteed at least an €8,710 ($9,380) payday. The winner will take home €470,830 (US$507,037).
The first €25,000 ($26,923) “High Roller” event saw Stephen Chidwick gain his first victory of the year after beating Adrian Mateos and a 51-player field to take €389,820 ($419,797), which was the bulk of the prize pool split among the top seven players.
The second €25,000 “High Roller” tournament needed an additional day after the 62-player field was reduced to three. Daniel Dvoress, Tamas Adamszki and Niklas Astedt are battling for the championship, with Dvoress currently the short stack.
The €50,000 (US$53,845) buy-in “Super High Roller” tournament has already surpassed 50 entries as late registration is underway. Dvoress is also playing in this tournament along with other prominent high rollers, such as Orpen Kisacikoglu, Juan Pardo, David Coleman, Dimitar Danchev and Chris Brewer.
The €5,000 (US$5,385) Main Event begins on Monday at noon with the first of two Day 1 flights. One rebuy is available, with the champion to be decided on Sunday, February 25.
A third €25,000 (US$26,915) buy-in High Roller event will conclude the EPT Paris series from February 24-25.
