The series won’t be held until December, but players can start getting ready now
The World Poker Tour has announced the 2024 WPT World Championship festival dates. This year’s festival will take place from December 3 to 23 at the Wynn Las Vegas. Last year, 33,712 players competed across dozens of tournaments, with American poker pro Daniel Sepiol taking the title and the top prize of almost $5.3 million.
In December 2022, Eliot Hudon won the first WPT World Championship for the top prize of $4.1 million. The $29 million prize pool made it a highly anticipated event for poker fans globally. The WPT World Championship in 2023 attracted players from around the world. The $10,400 buy-in tournament had a $40 million prize pool after setting a WPT Main Tour attendance record.
Following the successful WPT Voyage inaugural event, which saw Aram Oganyan and Gregory De Faria win life-changing prizes, the World Championship is ready to raise the level of excitement. “With great pride, we unveil the festival dates for the highly anticipated 2024 WPT World Championship,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska after the dates were announced. “The tradition continues as we enter our third year alongside the incredible Wynn Las Vegas team, so mark your calendars in preparation for what is sure to be another memorable December.”
There has yet to be an official confirmation on whether the $40 million guarantee will return this year. However, an increase is unlikely, considering the number of top-tier events that happened within days of each other last December. The 2023 WSOP Paradise Main Event and the European Poker Tour’s Prague Main Event both affected the WPT World Championship, which fell just shy of the guarantee.
