David Coleman reclaims his spot at the top of the charts
Following a brief absence due to the games offered in the Omaha and Mixed Game series, David Coleman has regained the top spot in the PGT Overall Championship standings with a recent triumph at the 2024 USPO.
Coleman held an early lead in the standings after winning three tournaments before the PGT’s Mixed Game Series and the PLO Series in March. He would return to action in April with the return of the USPO and take the top prize in Event #4 for just over $202,000. Coleman cashed in three events to earn 322 points to retake the PGT Overall Championship race lead.
Coleman surpassed USPO Overall Champion Aram Zobian, who won Event #6 to move into third overall in the standings.
Another player making a big move on the leaderboard was USPO Main Event winner Stephen Chidwick, who secured the $429,000 first-place prize at the championship event. His performance at the USPO earned him 427 points, moving him into the top ten.
The top 40 players on the PGT Overall Championship Leaderboard will be invited to play in the season-ending PGT Championship, which offers a $1 million prize pool with half that amount going to the eventual winner.
Other players in the top 40 looking to move up in the standings include Victoria Livschitz, Daniel Smiljkovic, Jerry Wong, Alex Livingston, Dylan DeStefano, and Bruno Furth.
The coming months will be crucial for all contestants vying for one of those coveted forty seats. The Texas Poker Open will soon debut at Champions Club in Houston with five events that will count towards the standings, followed by the 2024 World Series of Poker, with 28 PGT points events, and the ARIA High Roller Series.
