The Caesars-owned property says it has too much going on to host another tournament
Planet Hollywood has pulled the plug on its planned December World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) stop, citing a crowded poker calendar that left little room for the event to shine.
The Caesars-owned property had been gearing up for its return to the Circuit stage after a six-year absence. The last time Planet Hollywood hosted a WSOPC series was in November 2019, when Michael Trivett won $215,943 in the $1,700 Main Event.
Following the pandemic, the casino shuttered its old poker room, but in May 2025, it debuted a brand-new 23-table room with the promise of reviving major tournament action. A December 2025 Circuit stop was set to mark that comeback.
However, organizers ultimately decided the timing was problematic. The WSOPC schedule overlapped directly with two of poker’s largest year-end festivals: the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas and the WSOP Paradise festival in the Bahamas.
The WPT runs Dec. 2–22 with a $10,400 Main Event and the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship, while WSOP Paradise, held Dec. 4–18 at Atlantis Casino Resort, touts a $60 million guarantee highlighted by a $25,000 “Super Main Event.”
Planet Hollywood’s Circuit stop, originally scheduled for Dec. 4–16, would have gone head-to-head with both series, making it tough to draw the same level of attention or player turnout. By postponing, Caesars hopes to avoid forcing players to choose between overlapping marquee events and instead set up the property’s return for a more favorable slot in 2026.
While no new dates have been announced yet, the move signals Planet Hollywood’s intent to reestablish itself in the live poker scene after a long hiatus — just not during a December already dominated by two of the year’s biggest tournaments.
