Max Hoffman turns up the heat and takes home the lion’s share of cash
Massachusetts native Max Hoffman has won the championship at the third PokerGO Mixed Games Series. He earned $376,300 in total prizes after cashing in half of the events and beating defending series champion Dan Zack to earn the trophy and a $10,000 leaderboard bonus.
Hoffman started the series by finishing fifth in the $5,000 8-game event for $31,150. Then, he had back-to-back runner-up finishes in the $10,000 Triple Stud Mix and the $10,000 Triple Draw Mix for $100,800 and $103,400, respectively.
The next day, he finished sixth in the $10,000 Dealer’s Choice for $28,200 and later earned his biggest career cash after finishing fourth in the $25,000 10-Game Championship for $112,750.
Hoffman’s career earnings have surpassed $580,000, with over two-thirds of that coming at the Mixed Games Series. He cashed $56,000 after finishing fourth in the $10,000 8-game event in October.
Hoffman was slightly concerned during the final event, as three-time bracelet winner Dan Zack was still in contention. The New Jersey native had to finish second or better to win the title but would fall short in third for $153,750.
Alex Livingston took this year’s 10-game Championship over Dylan Weisman (2nd for $290,535) to beat the 41-player field and secure $324,465, the fourth biggest cash of his career. The Canadian grinder now has over $8.5 million in career earnings.
WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener was another big winner in the series. He took the $10,000 Triple Stud for $151,200, finished sixth in the $10,000 Big Bet Mix for $22,200, and took fifth place in the Championship for $82,000 to surpass $11.8 million in career earnings.
