The tournament series kicks off this coming Monday
Parx Casino is gearing up for another edition of its popular Big Stax poker tournament series, set to run from February 10 through March 10. The event, now in its 34th year, has built a strong reputation among poker players on the East Coast, offering deep stack structures that emphasize strategy over luck.
Big Stax tournaments attract a mix of amateur and professional players, thanks to their flexible buy-in levels and well-paced blind structures. The deep stack format allows participants to start with more chips relative to the blinds, giving them time to make strategic moves without being forced into early all-ins. Unlike faster-paced tournaments, these events encourage patience and skill, making them a favorite among players who appreciate calculated decision-making at the table.
The upcoming series will feature multiple No-Limit Texas Hold’em events, with buy-ins set at $750 and $1,500 for the Big Stax 750 and Big Stax 1500, respectively. Players in the 750 event will begin with 40,000 chips, while those in the 1500 event start with 50,000. This structure ensures a fair playing field while allowing room for creative and tactical play.
Previous editions of the tournament have seen some impressive performances, including Kevin Grabel’s historic win at Big Stax XXXIII, where he became the first player to secure titles across multiple buy-in levels. His victory in the Big Stax 1500 earned him a six-figure prize of $132,000, cementing his place in the tournament’s history.
Another key aspect of Big Stax is its flexible re-entry policy. Players eliminated during the registration period can re-enter as many times as they wish, ensuring that competitors get plenty of opportunities to make a deep run. Late entries and re-entries receive full starting stacks, maintaining the tournament’s commitment to fairness.
