The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) is heading to San Diego this week for the Golden State Poker Championship. Hosted at the Sycuan Casino Resort, the festival runs from January 8 through January 19. This stop follows a successful season opener in Las Vegas and brings a variety of tournaments to Southern California.
The schedule features 19 Gold Card events designed to fit different styles and bankrolls. Players can jump into the action early with a $400 buy-in Mini Main Event that carries a $100,000 guarantee. This opening tournament provides a great opportunity to compete for a significant prize pool right at the start of the series.
The centerpiece of the festival is the $1,110 buy-in Main Event, which promises at least $300,000 in total prizes. Starting January 15, the tournament offers three opening flights for players to build their stacks. Those who advance will return on Sunday, January 18, to compete for the title and the top payout.
Beyond the headlining events, the series includes several popular formats like a $400 Tag Team tournament and a $300 Mystery Bounty. There are also specialized games, such as Pot-Limit Omaha and a Seniors event for players aged 50 and over. This variety ensures there is a game for almost every type of poker fan.
After wrapping up in San Diego, the tour will continue its busy January run with stops in Colorado and Arizona. The month concludes with a major $1 million guaranteed event at Talking Stick Resort. For now, the focus remains on the tables in San Diego as the hunt for the next MSPT champion begins.
