After recently being rejected for a poker room in Farmers Branch, Doug Polk has a new plan
Just weeks after the Farmers Branch City Council rejected his bid to open a poker room in the Dallas suburb, Doug Polk announced during Wednesday’s Hustler Casino Live stream that he and investors Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme have bought another cardroom in Texas.
Polk revealed that they have purchased Rounders Card Club and will change its name to The Lodge Card Club San Antonio, which will soon become the ‘Largest Poker Room in Texas.’ The group also owns the Lodge Card Club in Round Rock outside Austin, which is currently the biggest in the state with more than 70 tables.

Polk spoke to PokerNews before appearing on HCL’s Million Dollar Game on Wednesday to provide details about his plans for the new endeavor. “Market is very fragmented (in San Antonio),” said Polk. “When you look at very fragmented markets, there is an opportunity for someone to come in and put together the most cohesive package and consolidate the market.”
“The (Interstate 35) corridor between San Antonio and Austin is fast-growing,” he added.
Polk says his goal is to open card rooms in every major metropolitan area in the state. San Antonio is the third largest in Texas, behind Dallas-Forth Worth and Houston. He still plans to open a poker room in the Dallas area, although it won’t likely be in Farmers Branch.
Rounders Card Club is the biggest in San Antonio, with 30 tables, but the new owners plan to operate in an adjacent space that is double the floor area. Once renovations are completed, Rounders will become the largest poker room in the state, with between 70 and 80 tables.
The trio and other investment group members will take possession of Rounders Card Club on July 3.
