Poker fans have until September 23 to submit their favorite names
The Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF) has officially opened the nomination process for its 2024 inductees. Established in 2008, the Hall of Fame celebrates the contributions of women who have significantly impacted the poker world. The public is encouraged to submit nominations until September 23, offering fans and professionals a chance to recognize deserving candidates.
To qualify, a nominee must have been active in poker for at least 10 years and be 35 years of age or older. Nominees can be professional players or industry leaders, but they must have made significant contributions to poker, either through notable tournament wins or by advancing the game within the industry. Importantly, they must also be advocates for women in poker.
The nomination process involves review by the WiPHoF Nominations Committee and current members of the Hall. Once the list is finalized, voting will begin on October 14, with current Hall members and select poker media casting votes. Each voter will have 10 votes to distribute as they see fit.
Over the years, the Hall has inducted notable figures in poker. Some of the most recent inductees include Deb Giardina and Allyn Shulman in 2014, Debbie Burkhead and Victoria Coren Mitchell in 2016, Maria Ho and Lupe Soto in 2018, and in 2022, Angelica Hael, Terry King, Vanessa Selbst, and Jennifer Tilly.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for December 2024 in Las Vegas, though the exact time and location will be announced later. The event will honor new members who have shaped the landscape of poker and continue to advocate for women in the industry.
