The series returns to the North Carolina casino for the second time this year
The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) is returning to Harrah’s Cherokee from May 1 to 12, marking the second stop at the North Carolina venue this year. With 18 gold rings up for grabs and over $3.7 million in guaranteed prize pools, this stop is expected to draw a wide range of players, from casual entrants to seasoned pros.
The highlight of the series is the $1,700 buy-in Main Event, which comes with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. It follows a successful February edition, which saw a strong turnout despite an unexpected interruption. During that earlier event, a man caused a scene by flipping tables mid-tournament. Casino security handled the situation quickly, and the tournament staff restored chip counts and resumed play without much delay.
The February Main Event ended with Florian Pesce claiming victory after outlasting a field of 1,710 entries. He walked away with $368,380, while runner-up Jarrett Mullins earned $245,597. The prize pool at that event reached over $2.5 million, signaling strong interest in the WSOPC at this location.
Alongside the Main Event, players at Harrah’s Cherokee will have other options to compete. A $2,200 High Roller event caters to higher-stakes players, while several $400 buy-in events provide affordable opportunities. There are also special tournaments tailored to Seniors and Ladies, as well as action for fans of pot-limit Omaha and PLO8.
Harrah’s Cherokee is just one of several remaining stops before the WSOP Circuit season wraps up. Leading into it is the Horseshoe Tunica stop, currently running through April 28. Once the Cherokee stop begins, the schedule continues with simultaneous events at Commerce and Caesars Southern Indiana starting May 8, setting the stage for the end of the 2024-2025 circuit season.
