The tournament includes a $300,000 GTD Main Event
The Great Lakes Poker Classic is set to return to FireKeepers Casino Hotel this March, bringing nearly two weeks of tournament action to Michigan players. The series runs from March 11 through March 22 and features a full slate of events for a wide range of bankrolls.
A total of 36 tournaments are on the schedule. The centerpiece is the $1,200 Main Event, which carries a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. That event will offer six starting flights, giving players multiple chances to build a stack before the final stages.
The festival opens with a $240 No-Limit Hold’em Kickoff event on March 11. A $300 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament follows the next day, setting the tone for a series packed with mixed formats and creative structures.
One of the early highlights is the $300 Gargantuan Multi Bag event, which features six starting flights and a $30,000 guarantee. Players can bag chips more than once, creating bigger stacks heading into Day 2.
Additional events include a $300 Big O tournament, two $130 Seniors tournaments, and a $300 Escalating Bounty event. Organizers have also scheduled satellites into the Main Event, with buy-ins as low as $70 and $170, making the headline tournament more accessible.
The Main Event begins its first two starting flights on March 19 and plays down over several days. After the champion is crowned, a $240 event titled “The Finale” will wrap up the series.
FireKeepers has built a strong reputation as one of Michigan’s top poker venues. Last year, the property hosted a major state championship event that drew more than 3,000 entries and generated a prize pool close to $3 million, highlighting the area’s growing poker scene.
