The new poker room attracted around 300 players for its grand opening
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, has officially opened its new, expanded poker room inside The Fox Tower. The upgraded venue was unveiled on September 9, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the morning followed by the first live hands shortly after. The casino marked the occasion with a special $25,000 Hot Seat Giveaway that rewarded players with cash prizes throughout the day, culminating in a final $5,000 drawing.
The redesign focuses on comfort, convenience, and technology. The room now features 33 tables with more space between them, creating a brighter, more open atmosphere. Stylish décor and improved lighting give the space a modern feel, while new Deckmate2 shufflers help games move quickly. Each seat is equipped with USB and USB-C charging ports, making it easier for players to stay connected during long sessions.
Technology upgrades extend beyond the tables. Automated sign-up kiosks streamline the seating process, while 37 high-definition TVs throughout the room display both poker coverage and live sports. The poker room is also located close to DraftKings Sportsbook kiosks, giving players easy access to additional wagering options.
Hours of operation have been expanded to meet demand. The poker room now runs from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 4:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The grand opening drew significant crowds, with around 300 players lining up before the doors even opened. By midday, the room was filled to capacity, highlighting the continued enthusiasm for live poker in the region.
Foxwoods executives described the launch as both a celebration of the casino’s long-standing reputation in poker and a step forward in modernizing its offerings. The new poker room blends the tradition of one of the East Coast’s best-known poker destinations with the latest in gaming technology and player-focused amenities.
