FanDuel and PokerStars have operated as sister brands under Flutter
Flutter Entertainment may be preparing to retire the PokerStars name in the US and introduce FanDuel Poker instead. Several recent clues suggest the company could bring its well-known sports betting and casino brand into the online poker space for the first time.
One of the clearest hints comes from a recent FanDuel job listing. According to Pokerfuse, the role, titled analytics engineer, specifically mentions supporting a “Poker Analytics team” and helping grow a poker business. FanDuel does not currently operate a poker platform, making the reference difficult to ignore. The wording strongly suggests that groundwork is already underway behind the scenes.
There has also been movement on the personnel side. A longtime PokerStars product leader, David Murphy, recently announced he is stepping into a new role at FanDuel, while remaining within the Flutter group. Industry watchers see the shift as more than a coincidence, especially given the timing.
Reports also indicate that FanDuel has been experimenting with poker-related subdomains. Meanwhile, PokerStars has delayed combining certain U.S. player pools and canceled its 2025 Championship of Online Poker festival, promising a return in 2026. Those decisions have fueled speculation that a broader transition could be in progress.
PokerStars has a deep history. Launched in 2001, it rose to global prominence after Chris Moneymaker’s 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event win sparked a surge in online poker interest. After regulatory setbacks in the U.S., including the 2011 “Black Friday” crackdown, the brand eventually became part of Flutter Entertainment in 2020.
