Police took the suspect into custody after he pulled a gun on another player
A poker game at a Florida card room nearly turned into a violent confrontation over a baseball cap, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old Dylan Avery Orlando. According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando was taken into custody after allegedly pulling a gun on another man outside the Card House.
The dispute began inside the poker room, where Orlando was playing at the same table as the victim. Witnesses reported that he became upset over a blue hat and started arguing with others. Court records indicate that he repeatedly said he was going to hurt someone that night, creating a tense atmosphere at the table.
The argument escalated, and Orlando and the victim moved outside, where things took a more dangerous turn. Authorities say Orlando pointed a gun at the man while demanding the cap. Fortunately, no shots were fired, but the situation left players and bystanders very concerned.
After the incident, Orlando fled the scene. Deputies later tracked him down using a license plate reader and located him in the Indian River Estates community. Investigators obtained a search warrant and took him into custody before 5:00 PM local time.
Orlando is now facing several charges, including attempted robbery with a weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer without violence, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended license. He is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail with a bond set at $22,000.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the hat was ever recovered, but the incident serves as a reminder of how quickly a simple argument can spiral out of control, especially when a weapon is involved.
