A poker player loses his cool after losing a game at the casino
A friendly casino poker game turned not-so-friendly after one of the players lost a hand. A male suspect instigated a physical altercation while participating in a game of poker at the Delaware Park Casino located in Wilmington, where he was arrested and taken into custody.
In the early morning hours of April 19, 2024, at around 2:30 AM, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the casino at 777 Delaware Park Boulevard in response to the reported altercation. When they arrived, they discovered the adult male victim, along with 28-year-old Tavon White, who was identified as the suspect. The altercation between the two had ended by the time the police arrived on the scene.
An investigation revealed that the conflict arose when White engaged in a dispute with the victim after losing a hand in a cash poker game, resulting in him physically assaulting the victim. The incident then escalated into a physical fight as the victim tried to defend himself.
Police said White and the victim continued the altercation, where a poker table was knocked over. The two men were eventually separated, and police were called to the scene. The unidentified victim suffered severe injuries and was promptly taken to a local hospital for tr, treatment.
White, a resident of Newark, DE, emerged from the altercation uninjured and was detained peacefully by law enforcement officers at the scene. He was charged with felony second-degree assault and criminal mischief.
White was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and remains in the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $10,500 cash bond.
