PokerGO is headed to Texas despite the state’s aversion to poker
The PokerGO Tour has revealed its schedule for the upcoming PGT Texas Poker Open, which will take place this spring at the Champions Club in Houston. Eleven events will be on the schedule for the series, which runs from April 24 to May 5.
“In our continued effort to raise the bar for poker in Texas, it is our pleasure to welcome the PGT to the Lone Star State in April for the first-ever Texas Poker Open,” said Champions Club Texas President Isaac Trumbo.
PokerGO usually schedules several high-roller tournaments during its events, and this one will be no different. Seven high-stakes affairs will be played, including five $5,300 buy-in and two $10,500 buy-in events.
Five of those seven tournaments will be No-Limit Hold’em, with the remaining two featuring the Pot-Limit Omaha variation. Each of the seven high rollers will earn PGT rankings points for the top finishers.
The most anticipated event of the series will be the $2,000,000 guaranteed $3,300 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em main event, running from April 24-29. Players can participate through eight total starting flights, four of which are turbo flights.
The main event will award PGT points to the top players, just like the high rollers, for those hoping to ascend the PokerGO Tour leaderboard and qualify for the season-finale at the PGT Championship $1,000,000 Freeroll.
For players looking to participate in some lower buy-in events at the Texas Poker Open, the series will host a $1,100 turbo on May 2, a $400 monster stack tournament on April 24 and a $360 buy-in event on May 3.
