Wolfgang Poker shows why it’s important to stay focused when you’re at the felt
This week, celebrities and poker personalities went head-to-head on PokerGO for the second Game Night of the Celebrity Poker Tour. Ray J, Aljamain Sterling, and Barstool Mintzy were among the players who failed to cash, with Wolfgang Poker, who gained 100 million views on YouTube for a video about pocket jacks, emerged as the winner. He defeated YouTube sensation Tana Mongeau heads-up, but didn’t realize the strength of his hand.
Only the top two finishers would earn prizes, with the runner-up securing $5,000 and the winner taking the top prize of $10,000. Wolfgang was the favorite from the beginning with his extensive poker experience.
In the later stages, Griffin Johnson lost with Ace-Jack against Sterling’s King-Ten suited after he hit a flush on the flop. However, Mongeau flopped a set with pocket jacks and made a fantastic fold of her losing hand. “The best fold in the history of the Celebrity Poker Tour was made by Tana right there,” said announcer Jeff Platt.
Wolfgang had a 10-1 chip lead starting heads-up play, and Mongeau later pushed all-in with Queen-Seven vs. Wolfgang’s Seven-Four. The flop came out 6-5-3 to give Wolfgang a straight. Only a four on the turn would save Mongeau, which never came. An Ace on the river would make Wolfgang the winner, but for some reason, he didn’t realize he had a straight until Mongeau told him he’d won.
“You were the only person I was trying to knock out, too,” said Mongeau as Wolfgang celebrated the win. “Third place last time, second place this time. I’m about to rewatch the last 10 minutes of this stream to see what I could have done differently and ruminate on it forever. It’s always good vibes over here. I’m so ****ing mad,” she added.
