Marcos Kenne earned his first title in what proved to be a banner poker tournament
The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Millions Championship has concluded, with Marcos Kenne claiming his first major poker title and a $369,000 payday. The tournament, held in São Paulo, attracted 503 entries and showcased Kenne’s dominance, particularly at the final table.
Entering the last day with a significant chip lead, Kenne faced little resistance as he navigated the final nine players. Portugal’s Joao Vieira, a notable presence at the table, began the day in the middle of the pack but encountered early setbacks. A pivotal hand saw Vieira’s ace-king fail to improve against Pedro Goncalves’ pocket queens, leaving him severely short-stacked. Although Vieira managed a few double-ups, his run ended in eighth place.
The eliminations of Breno Drumond and Rafael Mota followed, as Kenne continued to control the game. By the time five players remained, Kenne held more than half the chips in play. He eliminated Blas Torres in fifth place, while Goncalves knocked out Murilo Milhomem in fourth, setting up a three-handed battle with Denny Ramos. Ramos quickly exited, leaving Kenne and Goncalves to face off heads-up.
Despite the significant chip deficit, Goncalves showed resilience, securing a few pots and a key double-up. However, his ace-four couldn’t hold against Kenne’s eight-seven, sealing Kenne’s victory and capping off a commanding performance.
The excitement doesn’t stop in São Paulo, as the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Main Event is underway. The tournament, which drew 3,093 entries, is nearing its conclusion, with Mauricio Parodi leading the final 75 players after Day 3.
The BSOP Millions Championship may be over, but poker fans can look forward to more action as the series continues in Brazil’s poker scene.
