The move continues the push for more online poker across the US
BetMGM Poker has officially merged its Michigan and New Jersey player pools, marking a significant milestone for online poker players in both states. This merger allows players from BetMGM Poker MI, BetMGM Poker NJ, and its New Jersey partner sites, PartyPoker and Borgata Poker, to play against one another in a unified pool. With this, BetMGM aims to nearly double its network traffic, creating more activity at tables and offering larger tournament prize pools.
The merger also places BetMGM as the third operator to utilize Michigan’s participation in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). Earlier in the year, WSOP.com linked its Michigan players with its New Jersey and Nevada network, while PokerStars had already unified its MI and NJ pools. BetMGM’s move is expected to bring more action to cash games and tournaments alike, benefitting players with bigger tournament fields and cash games with higher guarantees.
With the new setup, BetMGM has rolled out a refreshed tournament schedule, including a new weekly series called Big Shots. This series offers substantial prize pools and leaderboards to reward top performers. BetMGM also enhanced its SPINS format by introducing a top multiplier of 2,400 times the buy-in and adding a $50 buy-in level, which now allows players to win up to $100,000 in these fast-paced games.
To celebrate the combined player pool, BetMGM has scheduled an Online Championship series, set to begin on November 17, with a $2 million prize pool. This Championship is expected to draw a large crowd and provide exciting competitive opportunities for poker players.
For those interested in joining, the merger doesn’t require any extra steps—existing BetMGM Poker users can log in with their current accounts and start playing on the new platform. The expanded player pool should increase action on all fronts, giving regular players and new sign-ups alike more options and potential winnings.
