The 57th annual WSOP commenced successfully in Las Vegas with multimillion-dollar tournaments
The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is off to a spectacular start in Las Vegas as the 57th edition of the legendary tournament series officially gets underway. This year features an extensive schedule where players will compete for 100 coveted gold bracelets.
VP Jack Effel opened the summer festivities on Tuesday with an optimistic address to the crowd before the reigning world champion delivered the traditional command to begin dealing the cards. Organizers hope to build on past lessons and deliver a seamless experience for thousands of hopeful competitors during the upcoming weeks of intense action.
The massive summer schedule launched at noon with the opening flight of the new Mini Mystery Millions tournament, which features an affordable $550 buy-in. This opening event will run initial sessions daily through the end of the month to build up a massive prize pool.
Later in the afternoon, players with larger bankrolls sat down at the felt to test their skills in the high-stakes $5,000 eight-handed tournament. These initial events set the tone for a busy summer where millions of dollars will change hands on the casino floor.
The WSOP emphasized its commitment to continuous improvement and premium customer service for this year’s massive player fields. Effel noted that his team spends countless hours planning for the arrival of global poker enthusiasts to the largest arena in the industry.
The atmosphere remains charged as professional grinders and casual enthusiasts alike chase life-changing payouts, historic titles and new records could be set. With consecutive tournaments running daily until mid-July, the action is expected to break previous attendance records.
