Illinois-based poker pro Scott Bohlman is at the top of the charts following outstanding runs
The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the Year (POY) race has a new frontrunner, and it’s not the name most expected. Illinois-based pro Scott Bohlman has surged to the top of the leaderboard with 2,144.27 points, setting the pace as the WSOP enters its final month in Las Vegas.
Bohlman, a longtime mixed game regular, secured his second career bracelet earlier this summer by winning Event #17: $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em, outlasting a field of 1,692 players for a $436,044 payday. That win, along with seven other cashes so far this series, has given him enough points to edge out other top contenders—even those with multiple bracelet wins.
The current POY leaderboard has shifted with Scott Bohlman overtaking @BennyGlaser. But with Glaser still in the $2,500 Mixed O8/Stud 8, it’s still anyone’s guess who will be crowned 2025 Player of the Year. Follow all the action on WSOP+! #WSOP2025 pic.twitter.com/3ed8XPCeIF

Despite sitting behind Bohlman in points, Benny Glaser, who has already picked up two bracelets this summer, remains in close contention. At last update, Glaser was still in the mix deep into Event #47: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo/Stud Hi-Lo, with 59 players left from an original field of 575.
Bruno Furth, another strong performer this year, currently holds third place. Furth kicked off his summer with a win in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event, earning $620,696, and followed it up with a second-place finish in the $10,000 PLO Hi-Lo Championship, good for another $508,705.
The race remains tight, with well-known names like Nick Schulman, Joao Vieira, and Lou Garza all ranking inside the top 10. Combined, this group of top-tier pros has collected 29 WSOP bracelets across their careers.
This year marks the second under the updated POY format, which counts only a player’s top ten finishes and includes their best online result. With many events still to play and a daily updated leaderboard, the competition remains wide open heading into the final stretch of the series.
