The annual tournament series is being held at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas once again
The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) officially launched on Tuesday, marking the start of one of the most anticipated stretches in the poker calendar. Held once again at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, this year’s series stands out with a record 100 live bracelet events scheduled through July 16.
The opening day featured the $1,000 Mystery Millions No-Limit Hold’em, a fan-favorite event that mixes traditional tournament play with mystery bounty prizes. Two $1 million bounties are guaranteed—one awarded to the tournament winner and another handed out randomly to a player who knocks someone out. In 2024, this event paid out more than $2.8 million in bounties, and this year’s version is expected to draw massive participation again.
Several high-stakes tournaments also kick off the action, including the $25,000 Heads-Up Championship and the $10,000 Mystery Bounty. The $25K High Roller PLO/NLH Mix further raises the stakes early, with many of poker’s top names expected to take part. The $10,000 Main Event, the series’ headline tournament, begins on July 2 with multiple starting flights and wraps up with the final table on July 15 and 16.
This year’s WSOP is the first to be held under new ownership after NSUS Group Inc. acquired the brand from Caesars Entertainment. Caesars will continue to host the series at its Las Vegas properties under a long-term agreement, maintaining a sense of continuity despite the change in management.
New technology features are also being rolled out. The WSOP+ app returns with improved functionality, including real-time registration, chip counts, prize pool tracking, and broader payment options. Updates to tournament rules now limit electronic device use during later stages to ensure fairness.
With buy-ins ranging from $300 to $250,000, the series caters to both everyday players and high rollers, making the WSOP a truly inclusive celebration of competitive poker.
