The purchase of GTreasury is meant to allow Ripple to become a financial service provider
Ripple is expanding its footprint in traditional finance with the acquisition of treasury management firm GTreasury in a deal valued at $1 billion. The move signals Ripple’s intent to grow beyond crypto payments and become a broader financial services provider.
GTreasury’s platform, widely used by Fortune 500 companies, helps corporations manage cash, foreign exchange, and risk exposure across global markets. Integrating Ripple’s blockchain technology will allow customers to move funds and manage liquidity in real time.
Through the acquisition, Ripple plans to merge GTreasury’s existing cash and risk tools with its digital asset infrastructure. This will give clients access to instant cross-border payments and real-time treasury management.
The partnership also connects customers to the multitrillion-dollar repo market via prime broker Hidden Road, creating new opportunities to earn yield on short-term assets while maintaining liquidity. Ripple says the goal is to transform slow and fragmented financial operations into seamless, always-on systems.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the deal reflects the company’s long-term mission to modernize how businesses move and manage money. “For too long, money has been stuck in slow, outdated payment systems,” Garlinghouse said. “By combining our strengths with GTreasury, finance teams can finally put their trapped capital to work and process payments instantly.”
The integration is expected to streamline global cash management for large enterprises while reducing costs and delays.
This marks Ripple’s third major acquisition of the year, following purchases of Hidden Road and the stablecoin platform Rail. Each deal has reinforced Ripple’s efforts to connect digital assets with institutional finance.
The GTreasury acquisition is set to close in the coming months, pending regulatory approval. Once completed, Ripple will control one of the most comprehensive infrastructures bridging blockchain technology and traditional financial operations worldwide.
