Several Bitcoin miners have received huge payouts for their dedication
A Bitcoin miner has recently secured a not-so-common and significant payday of around $180,000 after successfully mining a block on their own. On September 10, the miner solved block number 860749, which included 5,935 transactions. The reward for mining the block totaled 3.169 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $182,505 at the time, according to Bitcoin block explorer Mempool.space.
The mining pool Solo CK was behind this achievement. Solo CK pools together the hashing power of smaller miners but rewards only the individual miner who successfully solves the block. In this case, the winning miner contributed 629 petahashes of power to solve the block. This was a mere 0.098% of the total network power at the time, which stood at 644.91 exahashes per second, according to Bitcoin tracking data from YCharts.
The Bitcoin network’s hashrate has been hitting new heights, recently reaching an all-time high of 742 EH/s on September 1, a significant 62% increase from the previous year. This rising hashrate has made it increasingly difficult for solo miners to successfully validate a block, as they compete against larger mining firms with massive computational power and resources.
Despite the odds, solo miners in the Solo CK pool have found success. Over the past year, the pool has solved 14 blocks, earning 59.3 Bitcoin, valued at around $3.4 million. This latest win follows another success on August 30, when a miner from the same pool processed a block, earning nearly $200,000. Solo CK miners continue to demonstrate that even smaller-scale participants can occasionally hit it big.
