The ongoing poker series has several big names vying for huge prizes
Four-time World Poker Tour Main Event winner Darren Elias has won the 2023 Poker Masters Event #2, claiming $223,100 and the Poker Masters trophy. He triumphed over a final table of poker legends such as Erik Seidel, Bin Weng and Eric Baldwin.
Weng held the lead heading into the final table and had increased his lead by Day 2, with Alex Foxen falling to the short stack. Foxen went all-in vs. De La Cruz, but his KC, 2C couldn’t hold up against the latter’s AC, QH, as the board came out QD, JS, 3D, 3H, JH. Foxen would go home in seventh place with $48,500.
Elias went on to eliminate Vladas Tamasauskas in sixth place for $58,200 after his pocket queens would hold up against the pocket jacks of Tamasauskas, with the board giving no help to either player. Elias would soon take the chip lead and eliminate nine-time WSOP bracelet winner Seidel, whose AD, 8H, was eventually beaten when Elias’ KD, QH saw two more kings on the board by the turn. Seidel finished in fifth place with $77,600.
De La Cruz failed to double-up after his AD, 9C went down against Weng’s QS, JH, and after the board came out, JS, 10H, 5C, JC, 8H. De La Cruz would cash for $97,000 in fourth place. The table was down to two players after Baldwin won a flip to double against Weng, who would take home $116,400 for third place.
Baldwin trailed Elias by almost 2.5 million chips once heads-up play started, but he took the lead shortly after. Elias would regain the advantage before his AQ-suited beat Baldwin’s JS, 8S, in the final hand, sending him home in second place with $155,200.
