Using AI will allow the poker group to create dubbed content for events more quickly
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has recently announced its partnership with Papercup to automate dubbing on future episodes, hoping to increase its audience in one of the fastest-growing poker markets in the world.
Papercup will use various AI tools to translate and dub voices into Brazilian Portuguese on 184 of the Tour’s 44-minute episodes, with a three-month lead time. The company previously employed conventional dubbing services with six-month lead times.
WPT will use the dubbed content on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, as well as its own FAST channel. Papercup also provides its services to companies such as Fremantle and Bloomberg.
WPT director of distribution & ad sales Marc M. Dion stated, “The quality of Papercup dubbing has been second to none. A big part of that is down to their AI voices and expert translators who go through every sentence to make sure the moment is truly captured in the new AI dubs. The major streaming platforms have very stringent criteria when it comes to dubbed content and if it’s going to connect with our shared viewers.”
