The Atlantic City casino’s annual poker event is coming in January
The tournament poker calendar for 2024 will have The Borgata in Atlantic City hosting the first one of the New Year, its famous Borgata Winter Poker Open. The tournament schedule will have something for every player’s budget, including the main event. The twenty-tournament series starts on January 1 and runs through January 26 with $10 million in prize pools that should exceed the guarantees.
Event #1 is a $2,000,000 guaranteed tournament featuring five separate Day One flights starting on January 1. The $800 buy-in ($730 + $70) event gives players a chance to make the final table, which will be live-streamed on January 6.
The next popular tournament is Event #5, the Almighty Million Event. The $500 buy-in tournament has a $1 million minimum guarantee, with five Day One flights. The live-streamed final table will be on January 11.
The series’ Main Event begins on January 21, featuring a $5,000 (plus $300 juice) buy-in and a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. Two Day One flights are available for the popular tournament, with 600 entries needed to surpass the guarantee.
The Borgata Winter Poker Open will also feature a $240 + 60 buy-in $25,000 guaranteed Ladies’ Championship and a $300 + $50 buy-in Seniors’ Championship with $50,000 in guaranteed prizes.
Last year’s series was nicknamed “The Return” as the first live Borgata poker series after the COVID-19 pandemic. The $3 million guaranteed event drew 1142 entries to almost double the guarantee to over $5.5 million, with many famous pros participating.
Sundiata Devore and Bin Weng cut a deal as the final two players, giving Weng the victory and a million-dollar payday, with Devore taking home $926,128. Weng’s 2023 success has him as the favorite to win the dual Player of the Year titles.
