WPT Global Ambassador Brad Owen and others highlighted the recent session
A recent poker Meet-Up Game (MUG) at Playground Poker Club in Montreal drew a large crowd and some of the biggest names in poker. Held on October 21 as part of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Montreal, this MUG saw popular poker vlogger and WPT Global Ambassador Brad Owen host an energetic gathering that filled over 40 tables with players eager for $1/$3 and $2/$5 cash game action.
I had a great time at the Playground MUG yesterday, particularly right as it ended in the biggest pot of the night π. One of the players proposed we do a flip for a $1000 the last hand. I agreed in an attempt to book a win so I could give 10% away, which Iβm doing for everyβ¦ pic.twitter.com/9jGCExNuhJ

Fellow ambassadors and prominent Canadian poker pros Patrick Tardif and Xuan Liu joined Owen, rotating tables every 30 minutes to engage with as many players as possible. Owen, who has hosted MUGs globally, expressed his appreciation for the Playground atmosphere and the local players, who brought high energy and excitement to the event. “I always have a great time at Playground,” Owen shared, recalling a $1,000 flip win that capped off his day after an initially slow start.
Liu also shared her enjoyment of the lively environment and player interactions, noting how MUGs offer a unique opportunity to connect with the poker community on a personal level. Known for her casual and interactive play style, Liu took a more serious approach this time and ended the day with a profit. She even added a bit of fun by revealing one card per win, a tactic that kept her opponents on their toes.
WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage also joined in, mentioning the thrill of Playground’s cash game scene, which he felt matched or exceeded most other poker venues. He played rounds with Owen, “Egyptian,” and Liu, finding the camaraderie and intense action refreshing.
Players who attended enjoyed complimentary food and drinks and could register through the Poker Atlas app, Playground’s website, or in person. The high energy and chance to interact with well-known poker figures made the event memorable for both local players and visiting pros, demonstrating the lasting appeal and community-focused spirit of poker Meet-Up Games.
