Poker returns to Palms Casino Resort with the WPT introducing a unique live-streamed event
Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas is officially reintroducing poker to its casino floor after a 10-year hiatus through a fresh partnership with the World Poker Tour (WPT). The property is hosting a brand new live-streamed cash game concept called The Victor, which brings high-stakes action back to the off-Strip venue. This strategic addition marks a significant milestone for the casino, which has not featured a dedicated poker offering since its previous room shut down in 2014.
The revival comes well after a major transition for the property, which was sold by Red Rock Resorts to the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation for $650 million following a temporary closure in 2020. The newly launched three-day event runs from June 4 to June 6 and features a rotating lineup of professional players and internet influencers.
Broadcast directly on the WPT’s YouTube channel and various social media platforms, the production aims to capture a modern audience by blending traditional poker with reality television elements.
The format of the show introduces several distinct twists to standard cash games, including pot-limit rules before the flop and no-limit rules for subsequent betting rounds. Every session highlights two designated rivals who start the game with an initial $5,000 buy-in at $25-$50 blinds. These specific opponents have the option to execute a second $5,000 buy-in only after the table reaches its 50th hand.
The ultimate winner is determined after exactly 100 hands when the rival holding the larger chip stack receives the title of Victor. Along with the bragging rights, this victorious player absorbs the entire chip stack of their opponent.
The inaugural lineup features a diverse mix of notable poker personalities, including content creator Alexander Seibt and seasoned professionals like Kelly Minkin and Nick Rigby, ensuring an entertaining dynamic for the streaming audience.
